Seaweed extract is less a fertiliser than a recovery drink. It supplies trace elements and natural growth hormones — cytokinins and auxins — that help a plant push out roots and cope with stress, which makes it the right thing to reach for after repotting, after a move, after transit, or during a brutal heatwave. Combined with humic acid, which helps roots actually absorb the nutrients already in the soil, it is the safest thing you can give a plant that looks unhappy but has no obvious pest or rot.

How to use it

• Dilute 2 ml per litre and water in, every 2-3 weeks.
