Vermicompost is organic matter passed through earthworms, which leaves it rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and beneficial microbes in a form roots can take up immediately. Unlike raw cow manure it is fully broken down, so it does not smell and will not burn roots even if you are generous with it. It is the single easiest upgrade for a plant that looks pale or has stopped putting out new leaves.
