A hand-blown coloured glass globe with a long stem sits in the pot and feeds water in slowly as the soil dries, typically covering four to six days. For a plant on a living-room shelf where an upturned plastic bottle would look terrible, this is the version you actually want on display. Sold in pairs.

How to use it

• Fill the globe, cover the opening with a thumb, and insert stem-first into damp soil.
