The famous study everyone cites was run in small sealed chambers in the 1980s. When researchers later applied those figures to a real room with real ventilation, the conclusion was blunt: you would need something like a plant every square foot to rival simply opening a window. What plants reliably do is add humidity, soften a hard room, and give you something alive to look after — and there's decent evidence that a room with plants in it is a better room to spend time in. That's the honest pitch, and it costs ₹269 rather than ₹19,000.
Why a snake plant belongs in a bedroom
Most houseplants breathe in step with the sun. A few don't — and that's the whole reason this one gets recommended for bedrooms.
In daylight photosynthesis runs, so leaves take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen.
These keep their pores closed through the heat of the day to save water.
After dark photosynthesis stops and respiration takes over — the exchange runs the other way.
These use CAM photosynthesis: pores open at night instead. That inverted rhythm is what makes them sensible bedroom plants.
Kept in proportion: the amount of gas involved either way is small — a sleeping human dwarfs it. The reason to put a snake plant by your bed is that it's genuinely happy in a dim corner and almost impossible to kill, not that it will change the air in the room.
